From EdgeOne Pages to EdgeOne Makers
Benjamin CarterStarting today, EdgeOne Pages is officially renamed to EdgeOne Makers. This rename does not change any existing product behavior.
Evolution
Over the past year, the product has steadily expanded along the actual needs of developers:
- Static Hosting — the original form, providing static website builds, deployment, and CDN acceleration.
- Edge Functions + KV — for developers who need lightweight server-side logic and key-value storage at the edge.
- Full-stack Development — adapting to mainstream full-stack frameworks like Next.js. Cloud Functions and SSR let developers ship complete web applications in a single project.
- Agents — this upgrade adds native support for AI Agent development. Two companion products are launched alongside it: Makers Models (a unified AI gateway) and Blob Storage (object storage for unstructured data such as session memory).
Why the Rename
"Pages" still gives a first impression of "frontend hosting," which no longer matches what the product actually does.
"Makers" in the English tech community typically refers to Indie Makers — people who turn ideas into products through code, which is exactly the audience EdgeOne wants to keep serving.
Migration Notes
What changes: the console, website, CLI, and documentation namespaces are unified to EdgeOne Makers. The CLI top-level command is changed to edgeone makers dev / deploy. The original edgeone pages command enters compatibility mode.
What does not change: accounts, projects, builds, domains, and other behaviors stay exactly the same. Existing projects do not require migration. Existing deployments continue to run with their original logic.
